Job Title III TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES – 2-Geriatric Healthcare Attendant.-Nutrition / Dietary Focus Positions


PURPOSE: To assist with feeding of residents challenged with good food intake and to work with residents one-on-one to assess dietary intake with dietitian’s guidance so that residents’ nutritional needs can be enhanced.

HOURS: Primarily days, some evenings and weekends possible

REQUIRED: Must work Min of 30 hours /week, and candidates age must be in the range of 16-30 years.

STATUS: Full Time Term Summer Employment 8-WEEKS MAX.

Work Dates: Late May / June / Early July Under consideration To End by August 31, 2024.

WAGE: $17.75/hour

DUTIES: To administer and tabulate results of residents’ meal satisfaction survey. Assist feeding residents at mealtimes for nutritional goals. To assist with food service audits/surveys as set forth by Director-Dietitian and assist with computerization of job related schedules and menus for dietary department and support an learn dietary service processes.

QUALIFICATIONS: Good organizational and strong communication skills. Possess basic computer skills in word processing/spreadsheets within a windows platform. Possess good initiative, follow instructions well with good analytical skills related to tasks. Be able to work independently when task is understood without regular supervision.

SUPERVISION and MENTORING: Student will be mentored and supervised by Dietitian and Working Supervisor as a supporting team member. On-going support will be available and provided to ensure success of the program and practical experience can be learned by the student.

HEALTH AND SAFETY PRACTICES IN THE WORKPLACE: Employer provides a full day paid general orientation session which includes 4 hours of our safety program. Safety policies and procedures are covered along with a self test on WHMIS and safety policy/procedures to help with information retention. Workplace accident reporting system is also covered during this orientation.

The position is career-related work experience and supports post-secondary youth in the community.

This work experience will provide full time work experience for students that are pursuing dietetics as a career goal. Giving candidates exposure to this work will motivate and assist them in their decision to continue to pursue their career goals in the field of nutrition services.
