Manitoba Health and Shared Health will continue to use a clinically informed approach during the respiratory virus season to protect the province's most vulnerable populations, including those who may not be able to protect themselves from respiratory viruses while receiving care or support in a communal residence or health-care facility.
Respiratory season is hitting hard in healthcare facilities. We wish to prevent as much as we are able, with the knowledge that we cannot prevent all illnesses or sickness, nor their results, arising from viruses and other infectious agents.
Manitoba Health advises that the first shipments of updated COVID-19 and seasonal flu vaccines are now being sent throughout the province, beginning with high-priority locations such as personal care homes and hospitals.

The Canadian Standards Association (CSA Group) is developing a new National Standard of Canada (NSC), Mental Health and Well-Being in Long-term Care and Assisted Living Settings (CSA Z2004). CSA Z2004 will provide guidance for the planning, development, and implementation of services, programs, training, policies, procedures, and practices to help support the mental health and well-being of residents in long-term care and assisted living settings.
