Fall-Winter Respiratory Season Guidelines

Effective: October 18, 2023

Respiratory season is hitting hard in healthcare facilities.  We wish to prevent as much as we are able, with the knowledge that we cannot prevent all illnesses or sickness, nor their results, arising from viruses and other infectious agents.

All visitors must be aware of and follow the below guidelines as per Shared health starting October 18, 2023 which aim to assist us in protecting our residents.

  1. Staff:  You will see staff wearing masks in direct care situations.
  2. Residents:  Symptomatic residents will be isolated and tested for respiratory viruses. Those found positive for a

virus will follow the specific isolation and precautions guideline for that virus.

  • Family/Visitors:
  • Masks will be available and are strongly encouraged, but are not required.
  • Symptomatic residents are asked to wear as mask for the safety of those around them (as tolerated).
  • All persons will follow signage when Additional Precautions are in place. This includes hand hygiene and PPE.
  • Designated caregivers and general visitors will be able to visit with appropriate PPE worn.
  • Designated caregivers only may visit with appropriate PPE worn in outbreak areas.
  • Visitor guidelines remain unchanged.
