Purchase of Meals by Family Members or Guests

As we continue to open services as the COVID-19 pandemic improves, we are opening
up the Main Dining Room for family members/guests to purchase a meal during
resident meal time. This will begin October 15, 2024.
We have reserved 2 tables for guests and residents to eat their meal in the Main Dining
Room. To reserve a table, please contact Sharon Delgado, RD: (204) 889-3330, ext. 226
OR sdelgado@westparkmanor.ca. In your email/message, please include the following
information:

  • Resident Name/Room #
  • Number of people at table
  • Guest(s) Name
  • Reservation Date requested
  • Available times: 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. OR 4:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Note: limited seating available. Maximum 4 people at table, this includes resident.
Must reserve table a minimum of 48 hours in advance during the week and by Friday
noon for Sunday to Tuesday. You must receive a confirmation of booking prior to meal
ticket purchase. Information for meal ticket purchase sent with confirmation.
Only Cash accepted at Business Office.

Frequently asked Questions:

  1. If we are here for a snack time, can we purchase coffee from the cafeteria?
    Yes. You may purchase ticket at the Business Office for decaf coffee and tea or
    herbal tea packages available at the cafeteria.
  2. If not purchasing a meal, can we eat in the resident room?
    All Meals should be taken in the dining areas.
  3. Can we (family member) sit at a table with another residents present?
    There can only be 4 people in total at the table including residents/guests in the
    Main Dining Room only. Only one resident that is pre-booked is allowed
  4. Can we eat a meal in the resident room?
    Not at this time.
  5. If we want to have a party, can we invite other residents?
    Not at this time. Other residents have a variety of food requirements that we are
    unable to share with you (for safety).
  6. Can we take a resident out to the picnic area to eat a meal brought by family?
    You may do this at your own risk/responsibility. We are unable to assist or monitor
    this area.
  7. What is the feeding and swallowing requirement for eating/sitting with resident
    during a meal time?

    We urge all families who wish to be alone with residents during eating times to take
    this education. This applies for those who need mild to full assist with eating.
    Speak with the nurse or manager to see if this is appropriate for your resident and to
    access the training.
  8. Can families eat at the end lounge on the unit with residents at meal times?
    No, families can sit with resident at a separate table together providing that you
    check with staff on the unit first to determine if enough room is available to
    accommodate you, but cannot eat with resident at the separate table. However,
    families may eat at the Main dining room if a table has been reserved.
  9. Can families eat snacks brought in with residents in room.
    Yes, families can enjoy a snack with resident at the end lounge or in room.
